A judge has ordered that 15 percent of U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush's congressional salary be garnished to pay for more than $1 million he owes on a delinquent bank loan.

Chicago Public Schools says it has taken out a $275 million short-term loan so it can meet its obligations with the teachers' pension fund by a June 30 deadline.

Peoria County has millions of dollars it can loan to businesses to boost economic development. The program could also include dollars for not-for-profits.

A $2.5 million loan request from Peoria-based ELM is still up in the air at Peoria County. A vote on the loan request was delayed once some board members expressed concern about a lack of financial data from the company.  Board member Andrew Rand says the County needs to first consider whether a loan fits into it’s policies before voting:

Peoria County is spending the next month giving board members more financial and job information about an environmental tech company in line for a large loan.  A county committee deferred signing-off on a $2.5 million loan for Peoria-based ELM LLC by one month. Mark Rothert is the county’s Assistant Administrator for Economic Development. He says there are differences between ELM and the County’s loan to Firefly Energy, that went belly-up:

Pekin now qualifies for new USDA rural development loans and grant funding. A change in the farm bill allows larger populations cities like Pekin to apply. Dwight Reynolds is with the USDA. East Peoria approves business loan

The East Peoria City Council approved a $50,000 loan to help a local accounting firm expand. The loan is for CLA Services to move into a building in the city’s Four Corners District. City Planning Director Ty Livingston says the loan can help pay for physical improvements that match the district:

Governor Pat Quinn toured the state Monday to trumpet his program aimed at helping first-time homebuyers.  That included a stop in Peoria, where he urged people to take advantage of "Welcome Home Illinois." The program offers homebuyers $7,500 for a down payment and interest rates as low as 3.75 percent.
