Locks and dams

Hoping to be included in the Trump Administration's future spending on infrastructure, mayors from cities and towns long the Mississippi River are meeting in Washington. And the group includes Davenport Mayor Frank Klipsch and Roy Buol from Dubuque.

  

Agriculture groups say a bill signed by President Obama today is a step toward vital upgrades for the nation’s aging lock and dam system. But they also say there is more work to do.  

President Obama has signed legislation into law that could help generate money for lock and dam improvements across the nation.

Illinois River: Closed until further notice

  The Illinois River is closed. Peoria Public Radio’s Tanya Koonce reports the Army Corps of Engineers halted boat and barge traffic Sunday from Dresden to Peoria and extend the closure south to La Grange yesterday.
