A proposal to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour over the next five years is making its way through the state legislature.

Details of a massive, bipartisan compromise meant to end Illinois' budget stalemate emerged today in the Illinois Senate. But the plan has been put on hold.

Legislators scurried to pass a smattering of bills Wednesday, as the veto session neared its end. Although the Senate is set to meet Thursday morning, its calendar is fairly empty. 

The prospect of a minimum wage hike has the Illinois House and Senate in a standoff, and is putting Governor Pat Quinn back in the spotlight during his waning time in office.
