November elections

The presidential race is capturing most voters' attention. But here in Illinois, there's record-breaking spending going into races for the General Assembly. Hanging in the balance is the state of Illinois, or at least its budget, anyway.

Governor Bruce Rauner made three stops in Peoria today, speaking with the Rotary Club 76, the Illinois Economic Development Association, and touring the Air National Guard Base.

Lawmakers are set to consider making permanent a law that allowed same-day voter registration for Illinois' Nov. 4 election.

With the November Fourth election steadily approaching, polls continue to show a tight race between Governor Pat Quinn and Republican equity investor Bruce Rauner. 

Voters will get to weigh in on whether Illinois should raise its minimum wage for adults to 10 dollars an hour. Governor Pat Quinn approved the ballot question Sunday, and as IPR'S Brian Mackey reports, he wasted no time campaigning on the issue.

The question is just advisory. Lawmakers don’t have to heed the people’s advice, but supporters of the increase say they hope it’ll pressure reluctant legislators to go along.
