An investigation shows that the Chicago Police Department has failed to closely monitor the way it handles officer overtime.

In the wake of officer-involved deaths in Ferguson, Baltimore and New York City, Springfield is looking at how to change Illinois laws regarding police officers. 

Fallen officers honored in annual Peoria ceremony

The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office and the Peoria Police Department held services to honor fallen officers this week. 

Peoria City officials officially welcomed its newest resident police officer on the South Side.  Officer Christopher White has been at 1916 West Kettelle Street with his family for about a month. He says the program is needed to help bring down the violent crime rate more efficiently:

The Peoria City Council voted to buy a home on the city's South Side to expand its resident officer program.  The city is buying the home at 1916 West Kettelle Street for $56,000.  City Councilwoman Denise Moore says First District residents can benefit from the program:
