Riverfront museum considering offering free visitor parking

The Peoria Riverfront Museum is considering free deck parking for patrons. That’s the message from museum President Sam Gappmayer. He says he’s also asking the Peoria County museum committee to approve installing an automated parking system at the deck entrance. Gappmayer says the museum is paying five-thousand-dollars more to pay a staff member to collect parking fees versus what it brings in:

Disability parking changes take effect Jan. 1st

Most drivers with state disability parking placards will pay at parking meters starting January 1st.  The new law will require anyone with a blue or red placard to start inserting coins at meters in Illinois.  Mary Riseling is with the Illinois Secretary of State's Office. She says the change means an increase in revenue for cities with metered parking:

Peoria airport adds new parking

The Peoria International Airport now has 350 new parking spaces. The Airport Authority demolished an old storage building to make room for the additional parking just west of the terminal building. Airport Director Gene Olson says the space will make parking easier for passengers as the holiday travel season ramps up. The new parking is in addition to 100 spaces the airport built last year.
