The two owners of a Chicago nightclub where 21 people were crushed to death in a stairwell in 2003 have been sentenced to two years of probation.

An attorney for the family of a Northern Illinois University student who died after a party, says five fraternity members charged in his death won't face jail time per plea agreements.

The Peoria County Probation Department is getting $300,000 in state funding to help non-violent offenders stay out of prison.  The funding is part of $7 million across the state through the Adult Re-deploy Program aimed at reducing crime and boosting public safety.
