Chicago Park District President Jesse Ruiz announced he’s running for Illinois Attorney General Wednesday.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan says she has no "immediate plans" to run for another office when her term is up in 2019, including mayor of Chicago. 

A spokeswoman for Gov. Bruce Rauner's re-election campaign dismissed attacks by would-be Democratic challengers.

The Illinois house has approved a symbolic measure expressing opposition to passing an income-tax increase during a lame-duck session when fewer votes are required and outgoing legislators don't have to worry about re-election.

Marco Rubio headlining Schock fundraiser

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio is headlining a campaign fundraiser for Congressman Aaron Schock later this month. The junior Senator from Florida is joining Schock August 19th at Rita Kress’s home in Brimfield. Rubio has served in the Senate since 2011, and delivered the Republican response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address last year.  The fundraiser comes as Schock seeks a fourth term to Congress.  Schock and Rubio have introduced multiple companion bills, including legislation to simplify tax incentives for higher education.
