Peanut residue detected in flour has prompted Frito-Lay and Hostess to recall some of their snack products.  Frito-Lay this week issued a voluntary recall of four varieties of Rold Gold pretzels, including select sizes of Tiny Twists, Thins, Sticks and Honey Wheat Braided. 

Illinois health officials say three cases of E. coli have been reported in the Chicago area and one in western Illinois linked to a nationwide recall of General Mills flour.

Hy-Vee issues recall for Summer Fresh Pasta Salad

Hy-Vee issued a recall for its Summer Fresh pasta salad sold in the kitchen department cold cases and salad bars.  The company says the salad was sold in a limited number of stores and could have bacterial contaminations causing fever or proving fatal for children or the elderly.  Hy-Vee says the product would have been available in stores between early to late April.  

Roughly 500 pounds of bratwurst is being recalled by a meat packing company in Louisville, Illinois.

Illinois-based Dutch Valley Meats is recalling about 2,400 pounds of meat sold in two counties because of undeclared allergens.

Peoria company recalling 21 lbs. of beef jerky

Raber’s packing company of Peoria is recalling 21 pounds of its beef jerky. It’s being recalled because state inspectors found the jerky was produced without using a required process that limits biological and chemical risks.  The meat was produced on July 2nd and sold in the Peoria area. It was sold in 25-ounce bags labeled ‘Grand Champion Raber’s Original beef Jerky’ with a code of 192.  The state has not received any reports of illness from anyone consuming the product
