The Chicago mayor's office says the number of tourists to the city in 2017 was more than 55 million - a new record.

This year at the Grammys - Chicago native Chance The Rapper took home multiple awards, including one for Best New Artist. But another Chicago based group took home its first win, though the category it took the Grammy for goes a little more under the radar.

The Peoria International Airport saw a record number of passengers last month.  61,156 travelers flew through the airport in July. That’s the largest monthly count on record, topping the previous placeholder by about 400 people.  Airport officials credit increased travel to Atlanta and Phoenix compared to last year.

More people than ever before are flying through the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport. October marks the 8th month of passenger growth with more than 54,000 people flying through Peoria’s Airport. 

The Peoria International Airport is seeing its six consecutive month for record high passenger numbers this year. August saw nearly 56,000 travelers pass through the airport. That’s a seven-percent increase from the same month last year. June of this year saw the highest passenger count in the Peoria airport’s history. This winter is the second snowiest on record for the Peoria-area. The National Weather Service says the area has received more than 47 inches so far.
