PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - A brighter and more colorful Abraham Lincoln is returning to the Peoria Historical Society early next year.

An extra-alarm fire at Chicago's old Post Office has been struck out with no injuries.  Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford says firefighters were called to the long-vacant structure around 10:30 a.m.  The fire was extinguished after about an hour.

Renovations have been done on the 1940s-era Varsity theater in Carbondale.  The theater has a new scrolling electronic marquee with LED lighting. Faded metal letters that spelled out Varsity have been replaced. They now are bright LED letters.
