Ground breaking begins on new UnityPoint Methodist College campus

The former American Furniture Building is being reconstructed into the new UnityPoint Methodist College.

The UnityPoint Methodist College is getting a new campus. The former American Furniture Building is being reconstructed with Student Housing built on adjacent land to house both the nursing and health sciences programs.

OSF, UnityPoint offering online, interactive doctor visits

Residents can now use their smartphone or computer to get virtual doctor visits from Peoria’s two major hospital systems.  OSF HealthCare and UnityPoint Clinic are offering 24-seven online access to medical care.  The goal is to use the virtual doctor interactions for minor issues like sinus infections, and cold and flu symptoms.  There’s a per-use charge for both the OSF and UnityPoint systems.  The doctors may also refer patients to a nearby clinic for physical treatment.

State approves Proctor, UnityPoint Health-Methodist merger

An affiliation agreement between UnityPoint Health-Methodist and Proctor Hospital gets state approval.  The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved the deal.  That allows both groups to form one health system.  The merger follows a failed set of contract talks between OSF Health System and Proctor.  More information on the deal is expected later this week.
