Congressman Aaron Schock says a high ranking IRS official should be prosecuted for misusing her position to target TEA Party based not for profit groups who filed as social welfare organizations. Lois Lerner headed the division in charge of making decisions on tax exempt status.

Zoning Commission OKs Peoria Sports facilities

The Peoria Zoning Commission unanimously approved changes that allow for a sports complex in North Peoria. The Louisville Slugger Sports facility would include a dome and baseball diamonds on 50 acres.  Marla Ashburn is a would-be-neighbor of the sporting facility. She says the complex goes against the City's current Comprehensive Plan:

Dueling pension plans in IL House, Senate

Illinois' top Democrats are going forward with competing pension proposals.  One of them is scheduled for a vote Thursday.  Despite unions' strong stance against it, House Speaker Michael Madigan says he expects the House will pass his plan.  It would require state employees stay on the job until they're 67 years old before they could draw a full pension.  It also reduces future pension payouts.  But even as that package was gaining steam, Madigan's fellow Democrat, Senate President John Cullerton, was cooking up a different proposal, this one the brainchild of labor leaders.

State House to vote on Medical Marijuana


The sponsor of a plan that would legalize medical marijuana in Illinois says a vote in the House could come as soon as this week. Representative Lou Lang, a Democrat from Skokie, says he expects to call the measure next week at the latest.

“It's not about people getting high. It's about making sure a 75-year old colon cancer patient who is terminal has an opportunity to live out her remaining years with a quality of life,” Lang says.
